Liverpool,City of Culture.2008

The Liver Buildings
St George's Hall
The Liver Buildings. Note the famous Liver Birds
This photo was taken from the Mersey Ferry.
The building in the background with the funny shaped roof is the
Roman Catholic cathedral, known locally as Paddy's Wigwam!

This year, Liverpool is celebrating winning City of Culture status. The city is gearing itself up for loads of events during the year.It was on the local news last night that Ringo Starr opened the celebrations last night by playing the drums on top of St George's Hall! St George's Hall is just one of the wonderful buildings in Liverpool of which Liverpool people are justly proud. I'm not from Liverpool,I live across the river on the Wirral and these are not recent photos.but some I took a couple of years ago. I hope they do justice to the wonderful buildings they are.

those Liver buildings and St George's Hall ... pretty much my idea of an ideal home

(not if it's travestied into individual flats though: you have to own the entire thing) haha!

I like that photo from the ferry. It's very exciting. Those buildings are amazing. The nickname of the Catholic church is very funny.

I have just used Google Earth to download a picture of Leeds Castle because it looks so much like the insignia I wore as an engineer in the Army. In fact, we Yanks probably stole the idea when we were over! Your photographs are marvelous, and I am very glad I came to see them. Peace! MS
